It seems to be a pretty common occurance, at least on TV, for a person to send a drink over to somebody's table that interests her (or him) in a bar or a restaurant. I've had an offer or two for a drink purchase, but I've never had anybody actually send anything to my table before.
I was enjoying an elegant dinner at Waffle House, consisting of a waffle, some crispy hashbrowns and a water. I was almost finished when the adjacent booth decided to have something sent to my table.
It was a piece of bacon. One slice.
It was my first sendover of bacon, so I wasn't sure about the etiquette. All I knew was that it was fresh, crispy and greasy. So I thanked them.
Then I ate it.
It may sound a bit gross to eat meat of an almost unknown origin, but yesterday I saw something even more gross... There was an old man sitting on a bench. In his hand, he had a big, round, bloody ball of raw sausage. It wasn't wrapped or anything, he was just holding it in his hand.
And he was eating it like an apple.
But the most interesting thing was a cab ride. I've been in a few cabs in my time; but this dude was seriously the most dangerous driver I'd ever seen. But that wasn't the interesting part. Towards the end of the ride, a particular song came on the radio. He got excited, turned it up, and began singing off key at the top of the lungs with his African accent. It was Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris."
And I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.
A few other characters I saw on the streets included Tic and Tac with Peter Rabbit, the potato peeler guy, and Scott Speedman.
I just want you to know who I am.
